At Oil Peddler in South Dennis, MA, we want to keep our customers regularly informed. Here are our some responses to frequently asked questions on our oil delivery services.
What are your prices? Check the top of our page for the current price of a 150-gallon or more. We also have other pricing options. Global oil pricing is unpredictable and can change daily. The price can also differ depending on your payment or delivery setup.
How do I purchase oil? Just call us when you need oil, and we will deliver it either on the same day (if you call before 9:00 a.m.) or on our next delivery day. We accept cash and money order, but our preferred payment method is through debit or credit card. For your convenience, we can keep that method of payment in our files for future use.
If you would like to switch to automatic delivery, our affiliate company, Hall Oil Gas and Electric, can help you. This option offers a wider range of services than C.O.D. deliveries, but the price per gallon is typically higher.
Please note that our delivery schedule can be affected by numerous factors, including but not limited to, your location, weather, road conditions, and previously scheduled deliveries. Every effort is made to accommodate your delivery request for the same or next day, but it is not guaranteed.
When will I get my delivery? If you call before 9:00 a.m. from Monday to Friday during the "heating season," we can offer you our same-day delivery service. Otherwise, you will get your delivery usually on the next business day. During the "off-season," we typically set our delivery schedule to go east of our location on one day, and west the next.
What is the difference between cash on delivery (C.O.D.) and automatic delivery? The key issue is price versus service. It’s up to you to decide which one matters more. If you want to save more money, stay with C.O.D.
If service and peace of mind matter more to you, switching to automatic delivery makes the most sense. This will give you a service contract that covers your annual tune-up and a wide variety of common repairs.
With automatic delivery, we are the ones monitoring your tank level, and we will know when it is time to fill up. This is a service provided by Hall Oil Gas and Electric.
Do you offer discounts? You receive our best price if you are on C.O.D. and order more than 150 gallons. We have other coupons available that offer other types of discounts.
How big is my tank, and when should I get 150 gallons or more? A typical tank holds 275 gallons of oil. However, each tank is slightly different, and anywhere between 230 to 250 gallons is considered full. You won’t be able to put more than 250 gallons into a standard tank as there needs to be room left for air. Smaller and larger tanks are also available.
If you have a standard tank, make sure you are at or below 1/4 tank to receive at least 150 gallons of oil, and get the best price.
If I am on C.O.D., can I still get the service? Yes. We will service you through Hall Oil Gas and Electric.
How often do I need a service? Heating systems should be cleaned or tuned up once a year. This is preventative maintenance similar to getting your car's oil changed often. If you have a service contract, this annual service would be covered together with many other replacement parts and labor charges.
Should I get a service contract? Every person's personal preferences and heating systems are unique, and your system needs to be inspected before being granted a service contract. Service contracts are only available to customers who signed up for our automatic delivery programs.
Can I have a guaranteed set price for the whole season? Yes. We offer a wide variety of purchasing options through Hall Oil Gas and Electric. You can secure your price for the whole season with an early buy. You can also secure your price for part of the season if you purchase just a few gallons.
This program can be very beneficial as prices rise during hot seasons most of the time. Locking in a price during summer or fall can save you a lot of money during this period.
However, this is not always the case. There are years where the price falls during the heating season because the market is very volatile. By purchasing your oil ahead of time, you run the risk of being locked into a high price. We also offer insurance against falling prices, so please contact us if you are interested in learning about that option.
What areas do you serve? We serve the following locations:
